Civic Reception

Provost Xander McDade hosted  a Civic Reception to celebrate a 100 years of RSCDS Perth and Perthshire Branch.  A Demonstration Team danced “Dancing in Perthshire” and The Perth and Perthshire Centenary Jig. Pictures are in the Gallery section of the website.

Perth and Perthshire Branch Centenary Dance 22 February 2025

The Perth and Perthshire Branch was founded in February 1925 and to celebrate this centenary event a dance was held on the 22 February 2025.  Long serving teacher and Branch member , Christian Catto, cut the centenary cake.  She was flanked by former Branch Chairs (left to right) Rod Purcell, Rae Farrow, Liz Hamilton and Allana Creighton. Perth and Perthshire Branch Centenary Ball, April 2025Centenary Ball 4 April 2025

The Branch centenary ball was held on the 4th April 2025 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, 1, Leonard Street, Perth, PH2 8HE. Band: Jim Lindsay & Band.  Over 100 dancers from across Europe and the UK enjoyed an evening of Perth and Perthshire related dances.  Pictured below are all the attendees prior to the ball commencing.

Centenary Branch Award

At the centenary ball a special Branch Award was made to Jim Lindsay in recognition of his outstanding musicianship and contribution to scottish country dancing across the whole of Perth and Perthshire.  The Award is in the gift of each local Branch. The award was presented by Gary Coull, RSCDS Chair (left) and Christopher Smith, Branch Chair, (right) also presented Jim (centre) with a gift on behalf of the Branch.

Scroll of Honour Awards 2025

Gary Coull, Chair, RSCDS presented Scroll of Honour Awards to Allana Creighton and Jim Lindsay. The presentation was made during the Annual General Meeting at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow. The Scroll is the highest award which the Society can bestow on a member and recognises distinguished contribution to the work of the Society.
